'The Night Before Christmas' is the name the poem 'A Visit From St. Nicholas' is more commonly known, a poem first published anonymously in 1823.
The poem is set on the night of Christmas Eve, when a family is woken up by Santa Claus. Clement Clarke Moore's depiction of Father Christmas in this work is largely responsible for many of the modern day conceptions of the character, including his naming of each of Santa's reindeers.
This edition has vivid illustrations by Arthur Rackham, including a colour frontispiece, and three colour plates.

Condition
In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally, smart. Spine is a little faded. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Small tear to the spine. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
