Colour Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

Maxwell Ashby Armfield was an English artist, illustrator and writer renowned for his 'traditional style' and regular use of tempera paint, a medium and technique on which he wrote two books: 'A Manual of Tempera Painting' (1930) and 'Tempera Painting Today' (1946). A fine decorative edition of this seminal play. Featuring prior owner's contemporary ink inscription dates 'November 1933'.

Condition

In cloth binding with gilt detailing. Externally generally smart with minor shelfwear. Slight markings to boards and backstrip, with some faded gilt. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd handling mark to end papers.
