The novel Barnaby Rudge: A Tale of the Riots of Eighty by Charles Dickens, dated from Jisc c1925. Dickens' first historical novel, one of the two that was published in his short-lived weekly serial Master Humphrey's Clock. Set during the Gordon Riots in 1780.
Seen in varieties of publisher's bindings. In Collins's 'Illustrated Pocket Classics' series. Jisc notes it to be a reissue of the edition of c1907, without the type-set title page, identified through its unique pagination.
In the original publisher's full imitation crocodile binding. Illustrated with five full page plates by A H Buckland. With half-title.
Condition
In the original publisher's full imitation crocodile binding, gilt to the top edge. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. With a touch of sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very clean with only a touch of age toning, as usual. Illustrated with five full page plates by A H Buckland.
