    Description

    Illustrated

    This series is one of the Burton Club editions that were published for subscribers only. This is a limited edition numbered 497 of 1000 sets to the verso of title page to all volumes. Penzer notes that there were nine different Burton Club editions of the Arabian nights and the Supplemental nights. There is no definitive list of all Burton Club editions, and this undated set has been dated contemporaneously with when the print run was active. Illustrated, with five plates per volume. Collated, complete. The 'Supplemental Nights' series was originally published from 1886-88 across six volumes.

    Condition

    In the original cloth bindings Externally, very smart with just some minor bumping and shelfwear to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Front hinge to volume VII is slightly strained but firm. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright. Chips to the page edges of 217-220 of volume II. The odd handling marks to the margins, otherwise pages are clean.
