An early edition, with 1905 on the copyright page, but conforming to Quinby 9b without the comma after Joan or the period after Baby on the verso of the half title. Illustrated by Potter with a colour frontispiece and nine further colour plates, alongside vignette illustrations. Collated, complete. A charming children's story about a cat named Ribby throwing a tea party for her friends. It deals with themes like domesticity and the lives of rural people during in the Victorian era. This work was written by renowned Victorian children's author Beatrix Potter, her most famous stories being The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
Condition
In the publisher's original maroon cloth with pictorial detail. Externally generally smart with lifting to the backstrip and some loss to the head and tail. Offsetting to rear board. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with the odd spot and handling mark. Prior owner's ink inscription to half title.
