What Our Customers Say...

Description

First published in 1912, 'The Tale of Mr. Tod' is the charming tale about a badger named Tommy Brock and his arch nemesis Mr. Tod, a fox. It is widely considered to be one of Potter's most successful and complex stories, and is one of her final original tales. It originally was intended to be in a new series of Peter Rabbit tales, along with its successor, 'The Tale of Pigling Bland'; however, Potter was not a fan of this plan and the idea was dropped.

Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English illustrator and author best-known for her anthropomorphic tales for children, in particular the Peter Rabbit works.

An early impression, with dedication to 'Francis William of Ulva', rather than William Francis.

Undated; dated from the list of works included on the pastedown of the work.

Illustrated by Potter with both black and white and colour drawings.

A nostalgic piece of children's literature.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Externally generally smart, with a little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Internally generally firmly bound; binding is slightly strained past the dedication and exposed between pages 34 and 35, but remaining firm. Pages are a little spotted in places, but otherwise clean.
