Rebound, in a lovely smart half morocco binding by Bumpus. With the binder's stamp to the rear pastedown. This work was the best known work by F Edward Hulme, the amateur botanist and teacher. He was a Fellow of the Linnean Society and was a drawing master at Marlborough. 'Familiar Wild Flowers' eventually formed nine volumes. With a frontispiece and thirty-nine plates to each individual volume. Collated, complete The plates to each volume remain generally bright and clean.
Condition
In uniform half morocco bindings with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the spines and joints. Spines have faded, as is frequent with his colour. Binder's stamp to the rear pastedown, Bumpus. Gift inscription to the recto of front endpaper, dated 1928 from an individual called Leslie for a Christmas and New Year Present. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright with just the occasional light spots to plates and text alike.
