The complete collection of fortnightly editions of Cassell's new dictionary of cookery, containing about ten thousand recipes and numerous illustrations. 20 full colour plates (one in each volume). Collated complete. Each volume follows from a preface, a guide to the principles of cookery and table management (including the nature of foods, boiling, grilling, frying and cleanliness), and of course the A to Z of cookery. With an appendix and classified table of contents. Produced by Cassell & Company as fortnightly periodicals before the release of a fully bound book. Cassell & Co are a British publishing house, founded in 1848 which became an international group in the 1890s. They released many periodicals from around 1864 to 1956. Publisher's advertisements across each text, including a Bovril advertisement to the rear board of every volume.
Condition
In the original green paper binding. Externally, generally smart with light shelf wear and bumping to the extremities. Light chipping to some volumes and the odd closed tear. Internally, generally firmly bound. The odd loose page. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd handling mark.
