Illustrated, Leather Binding, Rebound

A handsomely bound history of the history and role of British powers in Indian governance, arranged principally bu Hugh Murray, but with contributions from individuals including James Wilson and R. K. Greville.

Volume I lacking the frontispiece and one further plate, but with one vignette illustration. Volume II illustrated with one plate and three vignettes, and lacking two plates. Volume III illustrated with four vignettes and one plate, and collated, complete.

Undated; dated c1901 via World Cat. The date to the back strip tail of this work  - 1832 - refers to the publication date of the first edition.

With a bookseller's stamp to the half title of volume I and II, and to the frontispiece tissue guard of volume III.

A scarce early twentieth century edition of this enormously informative and detailed work.

Condition

Rebound in full calf, with endpapers renewed. Externally, excellent, but with small hole in leather to tail of front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright. Bookseller's stamp to volumes I and II half title, and volume III frontispiece tissue guard. Instances of small worm holes throughout, but with more concentrated worming to the gutters of page 255 of volume I to page 50 of volume II
