This work is composed of chosen extracts from Sir Walter Scott's biography of Napoleon Bonaparte, which was first published in 1827. This biographical account focuses upon the downfall of Napoleon, detailing his escape from Elba, the Battle of Waterloo, his captivity in St Helena, and his eventual death.
Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was a Scottish historical novelist, as well as a poet, playwright, and historian. Many of his works are classics of European and Scottish literature, such as 'Ivanhoe' and 'Waverley'. He wrote this work in the later part of his life.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Cloth is very bright, with a few marks to boards and a bit of fading to spine. Minimal edge wear to extremities and head and tail of spine. Prior owner's ink inscription to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a bit of age-toning to pages as well as a few scattered spots.
