Colour Plates, Illustrated, Signed Binding, Very Scarce
A very scarce and unusual collection of hand painted watercolour reproductions of upholstery fabric samples.
Featuring eleven bright watercolour samples of fabrics, on nine leaves.
The handwritten label to the back strip, partially obscured', titles this work 'A Releves de Fragments Caphisseries', identifying this sketchbook as containing reproductions of a collection of found fabrics of upholstery.
With the binder's label of E. Carpentier, Paris, maker of 'speciality albums' to the head of the front pastedown.
A lovely collection of watercolours.
Condition
In the original cloth portfolio style binding. Handwritten label to back strip, with bumping to back strip perimeters and significant losses to the cloth at joints, resulting in significant fraying. Large area of discolouration to centre of front board, and bumping to board perimeters. Binder's label to front pastedown. Binding significantly strained, with first gathering working loose. Pages significantly age toned, with handling marks to first leaf, and further spotting throughout.
