Plutarch was a Greek philosopher, essayist, biographer, and priest at the Temple of Apollo in AD 46-after AD 119. His series of biographies of notes Greek and Roman heroes are among some of his most famous work. The present copy contains biographies of illustrious Greeks such as Aristides, Cimon, Pericles, Pelopidas, ad Phocion among others. Dated from Copac.

In a lovely full calf Old Ride Branksome Park college prize binding signed Relfe Brothers, awarded to G. E. B. Patten for French in 1906.

Condition

In a full calf binding signed Relfe Brothers, with decorative gilt to the spine and boards, marbled edges and endpapers. Externally generally smart with minor shelf wear, light rubbing to the extremities of the boards and a touch of sunning to the spine. Prize inscription to the verso front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
