A lovely copy of this early edition of Jules Verne's novel Les Enfants du Capitaine Grant, titled in English In Search of the Castaway. It was republished by George Routledge and Sons as a three volume set titled 'A Voyage Around the World.'
The plot follows an exciting and tumultuous quest for Captain Grant of Britannia, lost in a shipwreck.
One of the novels in the 'Voyages Extraordinaires' by Vernes.
The volume is abundantly illustrated throughout in text with one-hundred-and-seventy-two charming illustrations by Édouard Riou, including the half-title, frontispiece and vignette title page.
With six leaves of advertisements to the rear.
In a quarter morocco binding over cloth covered boards ad gilt to the edges. Externally excellent with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the extremities and only a minor rubbing to the leather. Internally, firmly bound.
