Complete in five volumes. Dated from atlas title page. With an abridged cyclopaedia and atlas of the world. With 33 coloured maps and 33 plates. Edited by Isaac Kaufmann Funk an American Lutheran minister, editor, lexicographer, publisher and co founder of Funk & Wagnalls Company. This standard Dictionary of the English Language was Funk's most important achievement, the first volume of which was originally published in 1893. His aim was to provide essential information thoroughly and simply at the same time.

Condition

In cloth bindings with gilt detailing. Externally, smart with rubbing and fading to boards. Hinges strained with front few pages to volume II detached but present. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean with scattered spotting and some patches of heavier foxing.
