Jauzac page 200, 'Au Globe Dore' binding, type 3, dated 1898-1902. With the issue points of type 1 and 2, but the added printer's mark '27135. - Paris.' [etc] to tail of list of illustrations.
In a beautiful cartonnage binding by Verne's published, Hetzel. These bindings were produced ahead of Christmas with the hope that they would make popular gifts; Hetzel furthered the popularity of Verne's work with these publications.
With illustrations from a number of illustrators, including De Neuville, L. Benett, Bertrand and Froelich.
Illustrated with a frontispiece to each volume, in-text engravings, and seven colour plates. Collated, complete.

Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with fading to spine. Front board exceptionally bright, with fading to tail of front board. Front hinge starting, with board holding firm. Contemporary inscription to half title. Internally, binding lightly strained to centre of text block. Pages age toned to perimeters, with the odd light handling mark or area of spotting.
