Description

Illustrated, Leather Binding

Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was an extremely celebrated Victorian writer known for his works which document the social conditions of the time, and his works are still immensely popular today. 'Martin Chuzzlewit' is a picaresque novel, portraying the Chuzzlewit family and their selfishness satirically. 'Dombey and Son' is a novel following Paul Dombey, a wealthy shipping company owner, who is distressed by his lack of a male heir and rejects his daughter; this carries Dickensian themes of child cruelty, deceit and social classes. 'Bleak House' tells the tale of Esther Summerson, with a legal case at its centre. 'Nicholas Nickleby' is a novel centring on the eponymous character who must care for his family after the death of his father.

These five volumes comprise Martin Chuzzlewit, Nicholas Nickleby, Dombey and Son, Pickwick Papers and Bleak House.

Profusely illustrated by H. K. Browne.
