Early Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

A very scarce encyclopaedia of foods, condiments, and beverages by J.W. Hoffman. Includes entries explaining foreign cooking terms, and a record of delicacies that were new to British tastebuds near the end of the Victorian era. With sixteen pages of adverts to the front publicising a range of goods, from vinegar and sauces to soaps and medicines. Undated. Dated from JISC using estimates from the British Library.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. A little rubbed to the boards. Lightly bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with some rubbing to both front and rear joints. Some offsetting to endpapers at the front and the rear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot.
