Cloth leaves. 48 pages of scrapbooked adhesive chromolithographic images. Most in colour. A late Victorian Scrapbook containing enchanting illustrations from a variety of publications. Illustrations include: nature, animals, children, fashionable women, scenes from 'Old Mother Hubbard', and 'Puss in Boots', as well as familial gatherings, romantic settings and a selection of Christmas themed scenes and tokens. Scrapbooking was a common hobby in the Victorian Era, mainly for women and children. These crafting sessions were used as a way of preserving letters or photographs to document events or trends. Today, these books are highly sought after by historians for the stories they tell and the elements of ephemera often found within.
Condition
Disbound, no exterior binding. Some shelf wear and marks to exterior cloth leaves. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd tide mark or discolouration from adhesive. A few scattered spots. Slight lifting to a few illustrations.
