What Our Customers Say...

Description

A charming two volume set of novels by Charles Dickens. The novel 'Barnaby Rudge: A Tale of the Riots' of Eighty was Dickens' first historical novel, one of the two that was published in his short-lived weekly serial Master Humphrey's Clock. Set during the Gordon Riots in 1780. This copy of Barnaby Rudge has a frontispiece portrait of the Maypole Inn and contains seventy-six illustrations throughout. Pickwick Papers is a Crown Edition and has forty-three illustrations by R Seymour and Phiz. Phiz illustrated many of Dickens' works as well as works by Harrison Ainsworth and Charles Lever. The Pickwick Papers was Dickens' premiere and personal favourite novel. It is a series of loosely related humorous adventures.
