What Our Customers Say...

Description

Early Edition, Illustrated, Very Scarce

This work is often erroneously attributed to Susanna Strickland, Traill's sister. Both sisters were accomplished authors with Catharine being the first of the sisters to begin writing. She mainly wrote children's fiction which dwell on the benefits of obedience to one's parents. This copy is lacking a title page, and hence has been dated using Copac. Featuring a coloured engraved frontispiece by John Romney after a work by the renowned English painter James Ward. With contemporary publisher's advertisements to the rear of the text. This work is from the 'Dean & Son's Tales of Goodness, Truth and Kindness' series, published 'for the children of England'. Other works in this series are as follows: 'Old Sambo's tales for good little people, by Uncle Tom' by Mrs. C.K. Baker. 'Little poems for little people' by Miss S. Strickland. 'The soldier's orphan, or, Hugh Latimer' by Susannah Strickland.
