John Leech was a noted illustrator and caricaturist, best known for his work in the satirical periodical, Punch. Robert Smith Surtees was an English novelist and sporting writing. His work is still well read and enjoyed today, thanks to his powers of satirical observation and his creation of timeless comic personalities. These three works are a fine example of the humour of the Victorian upper-classes, dealing primarily with fox-hunting and other leisure activities. An excellent example of three of Surtees's most loved novels, profusely illustrated throughout.
