Volume one focuses on the North, volume two the Midlands, and volume three the South. Volume one is illustrated with a frontispiece and nine plates. Volume two is illustrated with a frontispiece and ten plates. Volume three is illustrated with a frontispiece and ten plates. Collated complete. Written by John Timbs, an English author and antiquary, and Alexander Gunn, a British historian and editor. With the bookplates of William Alfred Westropp Foyle, a British bookseller and businessman who co-founded Foyles bookshop in 1903 with his brother Gilbert Foyle. Previously held in the library of Christopher Foyle, a British philanthropist and chairman of the famous Foyle's Bookshop in London. Dated from the British Library. Bound by Bumpus Ltd., Oxford.

Bound in half calf with marbled boards. Externally, very smart with light fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Bound by Bumpus Ltd., Oxford.
