Early Edition, Pleasing Copy, Publishers' Original Binding

An early printing of this work, originally published in the UK in 1870 a year following the true first US edition of 1869. This edition was dated from the rear advertisements 1872. A travel book by American popular author Mark Twain, telling of his experiences as he travelled through Europe and the Holy Land with other adventurers in 1867, journey undertaken aboard the chartered vessel Quaker City in 1867.

This book was one of Twain's best-seling works in his lifetime, and one of the best-selling travelogues of all time.

With publisher's advertisements 'Special List for 1872' of very important new books to the rear.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally sound with minor shelf wear and minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Previous ownership initials to the title page, undated. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are generally very clean and bright throughout.
