Including Volumes I and III from a six volume set.
The volumes are all in alphabetical order by place each chapter discusses. Volume I starts with the Abyssinian Plateau and ends with Vancouver Island, Volume III Adam's Peak, Ceylon to Whale.
Every chapter to this work is written by a different scholar or individual. Some include Frederick Whymper, Professor Arminius Vambery, Mjor A R Calhoun, Robert Brown, F W Holland and J Thomson.
Beautifully illustrated throughout with in-text illustrations.
A previous owner's ink signature to the verso of the front free-endpaper.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, sound, with some shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. A few marks to the boards and some light spots of fading to the cloth. Internally, hinges are strained and binding is tender. Title page of Volume I detached but present. A few light spots to the pages, which are otherwise generally bright and clean.
