With numerous vignette illustrations throughout and 60 full page plates in the complete set. Collated complete. A detailed three volume set regarding the country of Ireland. Working its way through the different counties, this work gives a wonderful account of the history, notable places and daily lives of the inhabitants of Ireland. Samuel Carter Hall was an Irish-born Victorian journalist best known for his editorship of 'The Art Journal'. His wife, Anna Maria Hall was an Irish novelist and artist, best known for her works, 'The Buccaneer', and 'Can Wrong Be Right?'.
Condition
In half morocco binding with gilt detail. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities and shelf wear to the edges. A few marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier towards the front and rear.
