Six illustrated editions of the humorous novels of Robert Smith Surtees, in the publisher's original pictorial cloth bindings. A number of these works feature Jorrocks, a vulgar and artful cockney grocer, often considered one of the greatest comic characters in English literature.

Present here are:

'Handley Cross', with a colour frontispiece and seventeen further colour plates from John Leech. Collated, complete. With two pages of advertisements to the rear.

'Ask Mamma', with thirteen colour plates from Leech. Collated, complete.

'Mr Romford's Hounds', with twenty-four colour plates from Leech. Collated, complete.

'Mr Sponge's Sporting Tour', with fourteen colour plates from Leech. Collated, complete.

'Plain or Ringlets', with twelve colour plates from Leech. Collated, complete.

'Hawbuck Grange', with eight colour plates from Phiz. Collated, complete.

With the bookplate of Cecil E Bryas to the front pastedown of two volumes, and of Boyd Alexander to a further volume.
