What Our Customers Say...
Description
Leather Binding, Pleasing Copy, Rebound, Scarce
This is a French edition of this piano arrangement of Verdi's operas 'La Traviata' and 'Il Trovatore'. Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) was an Italian composer of operas, known for 'Rigoletto', 'Aida', 'Otello' and 'Requiem' as well as these two marvellous operas. 'La Traviata' is based on a French play, which in turn is based on Alexandre Dumas' novel 'Fils', and tells the tale of Violetta Valéry, a courtesan. 'Il Trovatore' is a tale of wickedness, revenge and jealousy. Both remain popular with regular modern day stagings.
Published by Léon Escudier in Paris and containing the publisher's stamp; Escudier (1821-1881) was vital in the spread of Verdi's reputable works across Europe, and as well as being his French publisher, he staged Verdi's operas in Paris between 1876 and 1878.
In a half calf leather binding with delicate gilding to the spine.
