Full bound in lovely tree calf leather.
With charming, hand-written pencil annotations from previous students.
This is an undated, circa mid-nineteenth-century copy of Cicero's De Officiis intended for student use, with notes to the text provided in English. Cicero's De Officiis, alternatively titled On Duties, On Obligations, or On Moral Responsibilities, was written by the philosopher in 44 BC and offers a reader insight into the author's views on the best and most moral way to lead a life. Displaying a particular interest in defining the ideals of public behaviour, it includes several criticisms of the dictatorship of Julius Caesar.

Internally, firmly bound with a touch of toning and the odd spot throughout, heaviest to the endpapers and pastedowns, where there is also some light offsetting.
