    First Edition, Leather Binding, Scarce

    First edition, in a full calf binding.

    'The Beauties of Pope' is comprised of a selection of Alexander Pope's poetical and prose works, compiled by Alfred Howard. This includes letter correspondence, Pope's thoughts of a variety of matters, and poems such as 'An Epistle to Dr. Arbuthnot'. 

    Illustrated with a frontispiece of Pope, engraved by Chas Heath.

    Contemporary ink inscription of Susannah Godson to the front blank.

    Condition

    In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Boards are lightly marked. A little discolouration to the spine. The odd mark to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with a little offsetting to title page. Ink inscription to front blank.
