Two volumes bound into one. Scarce work. A moral story entitled Whychcotte of St. John’s, or the Court, the Camp, the Quarter-Deck, and the Cloister, which follows the lives of two justly-idolized brothers and their fall from grace. With an introductory memoir of the author. Written by Erskine Neale, an English clergyman and author who was well-known in his time. Dated from the University of St. Andrews Library.

Condition

In the original red cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Splits in the cloth to the spine and joints with minor loss to the head and tail. Hinges tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Light spotting and minor age toning to the first and last few pages with a contemporary ink inscription to the title page.
