Illustrated, Leather Binding

A scarce copy of Fielding's New Peerage. Bound in calf leather with gilt lettering and decoration. Scarce. Normally seen (and then only rarely), as the later John Murray reprint. This is the original Fielding imprint. With engraved title page and dedication. With 77 plates. Two volumes bound in one. In a good original full leather binding. The front free endpaper and frontis are missing. Containing the origin and progress of honours, manner of creating peers, orders of knighthood, an introduction to heraldry, an heraldic dictionary and a compleat extinct peerage.

Condition

Bound in calf leather with gilt lettering and decoration. There is wear to the extremities, including bumping and cracks to the spine. The inner hinges are slightly strained. The binding is tight and firm. Internally the pages are bright with the occasional spots or handling marks. The first and last couple of pages are slightly age toned. The corner of page 121/2 has been torn away.
