Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Seventeen works by Ellis Peters of historical murder mystery fiction novels, from her well loved Cadfael Chronicles.

Set in the twelfth century during the Anarchy in England, the Cadfael series follows a Benedictine monk who aids the law by investigating and solving murders. It is complete in twenty chronicles.

Ellis Peters is the pseudonym for Edith Pargeter, a prolific English author particularly of historical fiction. She was the recipient of many awards, including the Cartier Diamond Dagger, an annual award given to authors who have made an outstanding lifetime's contribution to crime and mystery writing, in 1993. She was also appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to Literature in 1994.

This collection of her works includes the following first editions, in their original cloth bindings and unclipped dust wrappers, except where specified otherwise.

From the Cadfael Chronicles, this collection is missing the first, sixth, eighth, tenth, and eleventh chronicles from the series.

One Corpse Too Many, the Second Chronicle (1979).
Monk's Hood, the Third Chronicle (1980).
Saint Peter's Fair, the Fourth Chronicle (1981).
The Leper of Saint Giles, the Fifth Chronicle (1981).
The Sanctuary Sparrow, the Seventh Chronicle (1983).
Dead Man's Ransom, the Ninth Chronicle (1984).
The Raven in the Foregate, the Twelth Chronicle (1986).

With other works by the author related to the series, including A Rare Benedictine (1988), which is illustrated in colour, and The Cadfael Companion by Robin Whiteman, with an introduction by Ellis Peters (1991), with a clipped dust wrapper.
