Fourteen works in fifteen volumes of sixteen, only missing Yachting and Rowing and featuring the scarce Polo and Coaching.

The set also contains the particularly scarce Cape Town edition of 'South Africa and Rhodesia', which had a smaller limitation of five hundred copies.

The impressive 'British Sports and Sportsmen', rarely seen complete on the market, was a commanding series on numerous sporting subjects in Britain. Each volume is an extensive and detailed study into sport, and were popular library acquisitions of the day. 

The present collection is formed of limited editions of one-thousand copies and one of five hundred de luxe edition, all in the original publisher's uniform full morocco bindings. Most copies were dated from Copac between 1908 and 1939, dates are given for those specified.

This series is comprised of the following titles:

British Sports and Sportsmen: Past & Present, complete in two volumes, number three-hundred and twenty eight. With biographical sketches of the great sportsman up to the early twentieth century. Biographies are accompanied by portraits. With one-hundred and fourteen full page plates to Part I, and one-hundred and fourteen to Part II.

Shooting and Deerstalking, number three hundred and twenty eight. On methods of shooting various kinds of game and pheasants. With numerous illustrations in text as well as frontispiece and eight full page plates of photogravures. Collated, complete.

Athletic Sports: Tennis, Rackets and other Ball Games, number three-hundred and twenty-eight. Edited in conjunction with The Sporting Life. With accounts of the foundation of British Athletic Sports, and record of boxing, swimming, fencing, tennis, badminton, bowls, &c. Illustrated with a frontispiece and nine full page plates of photogravure portraits each protected with tissue guard, as well as numerous black and white illustrations in text. Collated, complete.

Golf, Athletics, Tennis, Hockey and other Ball Games, Winter Sports, number three-hundred and twenty eight. Concerning golf, tennis, rackets, lacrosse, Eton and Rugby Fives, winter sports and British swordsmanship among others, with an account of some notable personalities. Condition

In the original publisher's uniform full morocco bindings, with five raised bands, gilt tooling to spine and boards, gilt to edges, marbled endpapers. Externally generally very smart with minor shelf wear, only occasional minor marks to the boards, rubbing to front joint 'South Africa and Rhodesia.' Internally, firmly bound. Light minor spotting scattered to the occasional leaf, particularly leaves of plates, otherwise pages generally bright and clean throughout. Minor worm marks to lower margin of first few leaves through to half title of 'Modern Commerce', not affecting any of the text. Illustrated with numerous full page photogravures and other illustrations, numerous in text. Photogravures are protected by tissue guards. Collated, complete.
