Description

Leather Binding, Very Scarce

Includes a prolegomenon with information of the preservation of ancient texts, information on the Hebrew and Arabic alphabet along with a comparison of the Hebrew text of Genesis with the Syrian version.

The second volume contains various readings of the New Teastment in Syriac.

The work runs from Genesis to Apocalypsis followed by various readings of the Greek New Testament.

The author, Samuel Lee, was an English Orientalist and professor of Arabic and Hebrew at Cambridge.

Condition

In a morocco binding. Externally, sound with some sunning and marks to boards. Rubbing to spine with bumping to head and tail. Joints starting. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown and ink inscriptions to front free end-papers dated to 1890. Internally, firmly bound with pages bright and clean.
