A charming work discussing the trials of finding a perfect home, with tips on decoration, furnishing, and hosting. The author advises on finding a home, fitting up the servant's quarters, the details of servants, religion in daily life, nursing and first aid in the home, how to run a small dairy farm, as well as offering a selection of menus and recipes. This is a charming work that shows the domestic ideal at the beginning of the twentieth century. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, twenty-three colour plates, and numerous full page monochrome illustrations. Written by Matilda Lees Dods, who was a diplomee of the South Kensington School of Cookery. She was also a certified teacher in laundry work, dressmaking, dairy work, poultry rearing, and first aid. Undated, dated circa 1916 from Jisc from a copy held at the British Library. Collated, complete.

Condition

In a full cloth binding. Externally, smart. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light marks to the boards. A little cockling to the spine. The odd spot to the fore edge. Front hinge is starting to the textblock but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot mostly to the first and last few pages.
