    Description

    Illustrated, Leather Binding

    Complete in two volumes.

    A comprehensive encyclopaedia on the useful arts, manufacturing and engineering, written in the midst of the Industrial Revolution. 

    Volume I, containing abattoir to hair-pencils, illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, one folding plate, sixteen plates, and many in-text engravings. Collated, complete.

    Volume II, containing hammer to zirconium, illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, twenty-three plates, and many in-text engravings. Collated, complete.

    Compiled by Charles Tomlinson, a British scientist and member of the Royal Society.

    Condition

    In a full decorative calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the boards and spines resulting in a small amount of loss of leather. Fading to the spines and a little discolouration to the boards. Minor marks to the boards and spines. A small amount of loss to the tail of the spine of Volume II. Rear hinge of Volume II is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots and handling marks.
