This work has been organised chronologically in sections such as: the Humanist garden, the Baroque garden and classical park, Enlightenment gardens, the 'eclectic' garden and town and city park, and leisure parks. Each of these sections contains descriptions of characteristic elements of history and theory, with specific examples that serve as paradigms. Complete with original unclipped dustwrapper. This work has been copiously illustrated throughout with over six hundred coloured and black and white illustrations. This work was edited by Georges Teyssot and Monique Mosser.

In the publisher's original cloth binding with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally lovely. Dustwrapper, excellent with minor bumping to extremities. Slight marking to front wrap and slight creasing to upper extremity of front of wrap. Slight fading to spine of wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean throughout.
