First Edition, Limited Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

A limited edition, as stated to the verso of front endpaper, 'this limited edition is printed from the type and the type distributed. This copy is from the Royal Society of Arts library, with their library stamps to the head of the first six leaves, to the final leaf and to the folding chart that is loosely inserted to the rear. With twelve plates in colour and 124 illustrations in half-tone. Loosely inserted to the rear is a chart of periods. Collated, complete. This copy is without the dustwrapper, as is common. Written by the first female president of the first US national association of interior designers, the AID which is now known as the ASID. McClelland wrote for many interiors journals such as 'Colliers', 'Country Life', 'House Beautiful' and 'House and Garden'. She was an expert on wallpaper and received several awards for her work. This was McClelland's first book, and it instantly became a success and was a definitive study in its day.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with light rubbing to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Several light marks to the boards and to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Library stamps to the head of the first six leaves, to the final leaf and to the folding chart that is loosely inserted to the rear. Pages are bright with just a few handling marks to pages and the odd spots.
