First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

Collated, complete with many illustrations of the church exteriors and interiors. To this work Glynne discusses 312 churches in Kent and is a part of a wider work regarding the churches of England and Wales. The preface to this work was written by Glynne's nephew, and son of W E Gladstone, William Henry Gladstone. W E Gladstone and Glynne were brother-in-laws.

Condition

In a full cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with light rubbing to the joints. Head of spine is bumped, with shelfwear to the tail of spine. Front hinge is strained but firm. Title page is loosening. 'Presented by Mr Murray' blind stamp to the title page. Prior owner's inscriptions to the verso of front endpaper and recto of rear endpaper, 'Beauchamp St John Tyswhitt from R St John Tyswhitt' and 'Viscount Middleton, Brodwick Fence St John Brodwick M P Represents in Female Line Nicholas St John of Lydiard Tregony hence they use the name'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with just the odd spots.
