First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

A unique copy of this work, due to the ephemera and notations by a prior owner. There are numerous newspaper articles pasted to the margins of the leaves to this work, giving a wider context to the history of this house. Included are photographs and etchinges of the house. Signed by the author to the front pastedown, 'Col Campbell with the Authors Kind Regards'. Undated, dated using Library Hub. The sixteen lithograph plates created for this work have been trimmed down and are loosely inserted. Complete with the lithograph title page and plan. The first and only edition of this scarce work, which has been illustrated by Nicholas Condy. Condy was an English landscape painter from Cornwall, and became a professional printer at Plymouth. With the text written by Reverend F V J Arundell. A very scarce, unique history of this important house which was the second home of the Edgcumbe family for many years.

Condition

In the original cloth boards. Repaired with archival tape to the spine. Marks and minor rubbing to the boards. Disbound, due to the original binding materials. Pages are loose, with the plates trimmed down and loosely inserted. Pages are generally bright. Minor chips to the bottom edge of several pages. Scattered spotting, heavier to the plates.
