    Description

    Fine Binding

    Marie-Joseph Frederic Villot was the paintings curator of the Louvre Museum from 1848 to 1861. 

    Bound by Bosouet, with the binder's stamp to the front pastedown. This binding is very smart with charming doublures. 

    Comprising: Part I being the 13th Edition, Part II the 8th Edition, and Part III being the 3rd edition. All volumes are dated 1862 and look at the works in the Louvre that are of the Italian, Spanish, French, German, Flemish and Holland Schools. 

    Complete with half-titles to all volumes.

    The page edges to the first part is red, the second is blue and the third is green. 

    A smartly bound account of the works in the Louvre during the mid nineteenth century.

    Condition

    In a fine crushed morocco binding with gilt stamped title to the spine. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the joints and spine. Small loss to the bottom raised band. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional light spots to pages.
