The first edition of this work. Scarce catalogue of Sotheby's auction sale of the first Shakespeare's Folio of 1623, from the library of Dr Williams. Held on 13th July 2006, the book sold for £2.5m, setting a UK sale record for a first folio at auction.

Containing a history of the first folio, its printing, issues, description of surviving copies, and more. 

Featuring numerous colourful illustrations. Complete with unclipped dust wrapper.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding with titles on paper label pasted to front board. Externally lovely. Dust wrapper unclipped and excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
