What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, With Dustwrapper

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Illustrated with 1800 photographs, many in colour. Collated complete. This revised fifth edition is designed for the collector, with a historical survey of the mechanical wristwatch, a description of how they work, and a glossary. A price guide is included, written by the German watch author and journalist Christian Pfieffer-Belli, along with a chapter on imitations and hybrids. Information on the preservation, care, and repair of the watch rounds out the volume, making it an excellent reference for novice and experienced collectors. Richard Mühe (1929-2009) was a physicist, German watchmaker, and an historian of technology. He was Director of the German Clock Museum and, from 1981 to 1999, he was President of the German Society for Chronometry. Gisbert Brunner is a renowned German expert and historian in watches. He has written for GQ, ZEIT Magazin and Chronos from the early 1980s onwards, and has written more than 20 books on the subject of watches.
