    Colour Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Slipcase

    A Folio edition of An Embassy to China, a collection of writings from the journal Lord Macartney kept during his Embassy to the Emperor Ch'ien-lung between 1793-1794. This edition is introduced by Jonathan Spence and edited by J. L. Cranmer-Byng 

    This volume is illustrated throughout the text with watercolour sketches made during the Embassy by William Alexander. 

    In the original slipcase.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. In the original slipcase which is also excellent.
