The manuscript was first published in it's unfinished state in 1925. Arthur Axelad is a professor at California State University, and has so far published two books about Jane Austen, in part of a proposed three part trilogy on 'Sanditon'. This book, 'Jane Austen Caught in the Act of Greatness' lays down the groundwork for analysis in his later book, 'Jane Austen's Sanditon, A Village by the Sea'.
