Description
Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
First editions of Glen Baxter's amusingly captioned illustrations. Baxter's artwork employs images inspired by pulp fiction and adventure comics, and often feature cowboys, gangsters, explorers and schoolchildren, captioned with incongruous statements, intellectual jokes, and contemporary references. The Leeds-born draughtsman and artist was a teacher at the Victoria and Albert Museum between 1967 and 1974, and has had works printed in The New Yorker and Vanity Fair.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial hardback binding. Externally, lovely. Internally, firmly bound, with bright and clean pages throughout.
