What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Robert Bargrave (1628-1661) was a merchant, diarist and traveller.

This work is the first fully annotated, old spelling edition of the whole of Bargrave's journals, and follows his four journeys around Europe, exploring Constantinople, Gibraltar, Florence, Siena, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Spain, Italy and Heidelberg.

Published by the Hakluyt Society, a publication society founded in 1846, specialising in scholarly editions of records of historic exploration, voyages and geographical primary sources. They produce on average two works a year, with their first series publishing one hundred volumes, the second nearly two hundred, and the third series, as this work is part of, having commenced in 1999 and produced thirty-one volumes so far.

Complete in the original unclipped dust wrapper.

Containing a number of illustrations, a family tree, facsimiles of his diary and sheet music.
