The first UK edition, first impression with a complete number line. The first UK edition had a print run of just 500 copies due to an error with the translation, making this an uncommon work. Complete in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Translated from the Spanish by Margaret Jull Costa. First published in Madrid by Alfagara in 1988 as El Maestro de Esgrima. The work is set in Spain during the 19th century, amid the political turmoil of the Glorious Revolution. Upon publication, the work was met with much critical acclaim with a film by the same name released in 1992.

Condition

In the original black cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally in lovely condition. Dustwrapper is in lovely condition with very minimal shelf wear to the fly leaves. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
