Beautifully illustrated throughout with contemporary photographic plates, and housed in the publisher's original slip case, this is a lovely edition of the English novelist, playwright, screenwriter, broadcaster and social commentator J. B. Priestley's account of his travels in England in the 1930s.
First published in 1934, Priestley was commissioned by publisher Victor Gollancz to write a study of contemporary England, sharing observations on the social problems he witnesses, and appeals for democratic socialist change.
