The unpublished, corrected proof of this work. Gifted to Kenn Back by the author. Comprising a chronological list of Antarctic expedition up to the late twentieth century, with the related historical events. 

From the library of Eric Kenneth Prentice Back. Kenn Back was a British meteorologist with the British Antarctic survey for many years.  He spent eight winters in the Antarctic and is a descendent of Captain George Back. In addition, he served as base commander at Halley, Faraday and Rothera stations. His library collection was built over decades and highlights his love of polar exploration.

Condition

In the original publisher's blue cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally lovely with only minor shelfwear. inscribed and signed by author to title page "Obscure ends of the Earth / Sic transit gloria mundi / Nil desperandum." Kenn Back's bookplate to front pastedown. Inscription in pencil to recto front blank paper "When finished with please post to Kenn Back [...] An inscription - even a rude one - would be much appreciated!" Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Annotated throughout in pencil by author.
